Favorites for the 2022 World Cup

We’re just eight weeks out from the World Cup getting started and fans of football globally are building their fantasy teams and following all the news around potential team changes and player form

with 32 countries taking part and only one winner, it’s one of sports most exciting events. Bookmakers are already looking well prepared for the event too with odds already becoming readily available as players can take advantage of a

to get the most of their own world cup bets, but how are the odds currently stacking up for the world cup favorites?

Brazil and France are considered the top two contenders

For most punters, Brazil are certainly topping out the list as the strong favorites of the World Cup this year – having won more titles than any other nation at five times,

they’re also considered to have arguably one of the best teams in the world right now with a very strong attacking squad and some great management behind them too.

They’ve got a strong record over the past two decades, winning in 2002 followed by quarter finals showings in three of the four events since, and a fourth-place finish in 2014 too.

They’ll be looking to extend their victories to six and are looking like they have the team to do it.

France can’t be discounted here, however, the current champs having won the World Cup in 2018 don’t appear to have missed a step with a squad of fantastic young talent and some more experienced players to temper the unease too.

An early exit from the Euro 2020 tournament may weigh on the team heading into the biggest tournament in the football calendar but certainly have the ability to pull out a strong victory.

Both Brazil and France have been drawn into groups they’ll be able to thrive in – Brazil in Group G have to contend with Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon with Switzerland likely posing the biggest threat here,

and France also have a solid go of things in Group D with Australia, Denmark, and Tunisia.

England fill out the top 3 for many

Despite only having won one world cup way back in 1966, they have managed to put up some great performances and contend for a win but never having quite made it with a fourth-place finish in 1990 and most recently in 2018 as their best results.

Finishing second in the Euro 2020 championship behind Italy having lost on penalties will certainly bring the hunger to the young team too and has many fans encouraged the team can compete at the very top and be in with a great chance of winning.

Whilst not the youngest team that will be attending the world cup, there’s a huge amount of young talent that had shed any international nerves during the Euro’s and will look to head into the World Cup more matured

and prepared for the challenge that many of the other bigger teams will bring.

England does have a favorable group with Iran, Wales, and the United States to compete against, and are another favorite to at least make it to the latter stages of the tournament if not winning it outright.

Argentina and Spain round out the top list

As another European powerhouse it’s not surprising to see Spain towards the top of contenders, they have a fantastic team and have put up some great international results over the past four years despite some underwhelming performances in the past two World Cup events.

The team has a lot of experience but also some young hungry players that could see the Spanish team as a contender. Their group is quite tough, however, with Costa Rica, Germany, and Japan to compete against.

It's a similar story for Argentina, a team filled with veterans and a long gap since their last World Cup victory in 1986,

there will be many hopeful fans seeing Argentina make it to the end of the event, particularly as this could be Messi’s last chance at lifting an international trophy and would be a fantastic send off for what many consider to be

the best player of the past decade

.

Their group of Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Poland could be favorable, so long as the team don’t rest on the laurels.
