Liverpool give up on signing Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer

Liverpool failed to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer.

According to GOAL,

Liverpool

who is looking to sign a midfielder before the transfer window comes was ready to launch a late bid for

Konrad Laimer

but Leipzig is unwilling to sell the Austrian international.

GOAL claims that Laimer is to join Bayern Munich on a free transfer next summer as he is into the final year of his Leipzig contract.

Bayern Munich was linked with Konrad Laimer earlier in the summer and they reportedly made an offer of around €18 million but Leipzig refused to sell him and Bayern now is trying to sign him next summer as a free agent.

The 24-year-old Laimer joined

Leipzig

from Salzburg in 2017. He has scored 11 goals in 159 appearances.

Jurgen Klopp recently has admitted that Liverpool needs to sign another midfielder but he also insists that they only sign the right player.

GOAL says that Liverpool has considered Wolves' Ruben Neves, Leicester's Youri Tielemans, and Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz but it is unlikely they sign any of them as the transfer window deadline in England is on Thursday's 11 pm UK time.
