Official: Lucas Paqueta joins West Ham from Lyon

But now that he has joined West Ham as their eighth player since the transfer window opened, he will be competing with his fellow countryman. "I couldn't be happier to be here. I hope this is the start of a trip that will be fun. "I hope this is a good place for me to be," Paqueta said.

"West Ham had a very good season last year, and I hope they have many more good seasons while I'm at the club. I can't wait to put on the West Ham shirt and show the fans what I can do."

Last season, Paqueta scored nine goals in the league. Only five midfielders in Ligue 1 scored more goals. He also set up six goals and made 41 opportunities. The former Milan playmaker, who will wear number 11, could play his first game for West Ham in Wednesday's London derby against Tottenham.
