Villareal president determined Juan Foyth price for Barcelona

Villarreal does not intend to negotiate for Foyth's sale with a figure lower than the termination clause.

Villarreal

president Jose Manuel Llanzena has reacted to Barcelona's offer to sign 24-year-old right-back

Juan Foyth

, claiming they will not negotiate for less than his €42m release clause.

Foyth has played 15 games for Argentina since 2018 and was previously at

Tottenham

before joining Villarreal on loan in the 2020-21 season and eventually joining the Spanish club permanently for €15 million. The 187cm defender, who can play as a center back or right back, has made 70 appearances for Villarreal over the last two seasons and started 10 times in the Champions League.

After the 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid, Llanzena claimed that Barca must pay the release fee for his transfer.

He said:

"Villarreal aren't prepared for [Foyth to leave]," he said. "[Barcelona will have] to pay the clause with LaLiga, we're not open to negotiating for any player, especially not Juan."

He added:

"There has not been the need to do anything. It's similar to Lo Celso, he wants to play for Villarreal, he wants to be here.

"Naturally, if an offer comes from a big club, it has to be studied, but I have spoken with his agents and there's nothing that indicates that will happen."
