Tottenham's Ndombele joins Napoli on season-long loan

Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has joined Napoli on a one-year loan deal.

Tottenham has confirmed that Tanguy Ndombele has joined Napoli on loan for the 2022/23 season with a €30m option to make the move permanent.

Ndombele joined Spurs from Lyon for a club-record £63 million in 2019 but he failed to live up to expectations. He made 91 appearances in all competitions and scored 10 goals.

The 25-year-old Ndombele joined Lyon on a short-term loan deal last January. He made 15 appearances and scored one goal. He has made just three appearances under Antonio Conte at Spurs. Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso also rejoined Villarreal on loan earlier this week.

Tottenham has signed Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence, Clement Lenglet, Fraser Forster, and Destiny Udogie this summer.

Napoli has lost Kalidou Koulibaly, Arkadiuz Milik, and Lorenzo Insignie this summer and Fabian Ruiz is also close to leaving the club. Napoli has signed Andre Zambo Anguissa from Fulham and has added young talent in Mathias Olivera, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Kim Min-Jae.

Napoli started their season with a 2-5 victory against Bologna.
