Breaking: Galtier confirms Renato Sanches' transfer to PSG from Lille

Milan looked like the team most likely to sign Sanches for a long time. They were also interested in his teammate at Lille, Sven Botman, but the defender went to Newcastle United instead, and they lost on the former Bayern midfielder as well as he joins PSG.

As

Fabrizio Romano

reports,

Renato Sanches

will join Paris-Saint Germain today as he completed his medical yesterday. The Parisian's boss,

Galtier

has said, confirming the signing: “

We wanted to sign a top player like Renato Sanches who’s great talent who knows the L1 so well”.

Romano adds:

“Renato will sign the contract today, medical completed yesterday

”.

Sanches joined

Lille

from Bayern Munich in 2019 and since then has played 91 games for them. Sanches’ contract is expiring in June 2023. He will also reunite with ex-Lille coach Christopher Galtier at PSG and he is set to replace Mauricio Pochettino after terminating his deal with OGC Nice.

Sanches earlier told an interview, discussing offers from

Milan

:

“When I arrived at Bayern Munich, I was not ready to play in such a club. I was very young. And when I got ready, the opportunity to play with this team never came.

“Today I feel ready. I understand football better, I have more experience, I know what to do to play in this kind of club and that changes everything.”

He would be the second LOSC player the Rossoneri have failed to acquire, with Sven Botman also choosing to join Newcastle United.
