5 Germany players dominate the Women's Euros team of the tournament

Despite a 2-1 loss to England in the tournament's final, Five German stars are included in the team of the tournament along with the Lionesses' Beth Mead.

Giulia Gwinn, Martina Hegering, Lena Oberdorf,

Alexandra Popp

, and Klara Buhl are the German stars on the team while Beth Mead, Keira Walsh, Leah Williamson, and Mary Earps are the English players in the squad. France's Sakina Karchaoui and Spain's Aitana Bonmati are the other players on the Women's Euro 2022 team of the tournament list.

 

The tournament marked the first time either men's or women's side of

England

won a Euro tournament as Chloe Kelly's extra-time winner in the 110th minute handed the trophy to the Lionesses while goals from Ella Toone and Lina Magull sent the match to the extra-time as a 1-1 draw. The Euro 2022 final broke the attendance record for any European Championship match at either men's or women's tournament. Sunday’s final between England and Germany has set a new attendance record after 87,192 spectators attended Wembley. The previous record of 79,115 was for the men's final in 1964 between hosts Spain and the Soviet Union at the Santiago Bernabeu.
