Official: Jules Kounde joins Barcelona

Barcelona and Sevilla have agreed on a deal that will see defender Jules Kounde make a switch from Sevilla to Barcelona.

Barcelona

has announced they have reached an agreement with

Sevilla

over the transfer of

Jules Kounde

. Kounde will officially sign his contract with Barcelona after passing a medical.

The Spanish press claims that the two teams have reached an agreement for about 50 million euros plus 10 million euros on top of the fixed fee.

Kounde is Barcelona's fifth summer signing following Andreas Christensen, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Franck Kessie. They also want to sign Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.

Sevilla reached an agreement with Chelsea over Kounde for €65m last week but in the end, Barcelona was Kounde’s preferred choice and he decided to wait for them. Chelsea wanted to sign Kounde last summer but at that time they couldn’t agree on a transfer fee with Sevilla.

Barcelona was not willing to match Chelsea's offer but Xavi put pressure on the club’s directors to sign the 23-year-old center-back at any cost.

Kounde joined Sevilla in 2019 for 25 million Euros and since then played in 133 matches. He won the Europe League with Sevilla in 2020.
