Liverpool signed Aberdeen star Ramsay

Liverpool's third purchase will join Anfield from Scottish Premiership.

Liverpool

have confirmed the signing of Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay.

The Reds have reportedly spent £4 million to sign their new defender and there are performance bonuses of up to £2.5 million in the contract. The 18-year-old defender traveled to Liverpool to finalize his contract and undergo medical tests. He has a five-year contract with his new team and will be joining Liverpool in the pre-season as Jürgen Klopp does not intend to loan him out.

Ramsay reached Aberdeen's first team last season, playing 33 games for the team, scoring 1 goal and 9 assists in all competitions. He won the title of SFWA Young Player of the Year and gained his first European experience in the Europa Conference League.

Ramsay will become Liverpool's third signing after Darwin Nunez from Benfica and Fabio Carvalho from Fulham. Several clubs in the Premier League, Italy and Germany, were looking to sign him, but the Scottish defender has chose to play for Jürgen Klopp. Liverpool recognize Ramsay as a long-time rival for Trent Alexander-Arnold in the right-back position.
