CEO of Sudan's Al-Merreikh shrugs off talks with Carlos Queiroz

Hazem Mostafa, the director of Al-Merreikh, rejected claims that his company was in talks with Carlos Queiroz, the former Egypt national team coach.

Al-Merreikh fired manager Lee Clark after failing to qualify for the

CAF Champions League

knockout rounds.

As a result, several names have appeared as potential contenders for the role, including

Carlos Queiroz

, the former

Egypt

national team manager.

Following the departure of Hossam El-Badry in September, Queiroz was named Egypt's national team manager.

During the previous seven months, the Portuguese had led the Pharaohs to the Arab Cup semi-finals in Qatar and the Africa Cup of Nations final in

Cameroon

, which he lost on penalties to Senegal.

Al-Merreikh chairman Hazem Mostafa, on the other hand, feels Queiroz's tenure with the Pharaohs was unimpressive and denies any discussions with him.

“We haven’t decided who the next head coach will be, but Queiroz’s name is not on the candidates’ list,” Mostafa said.

“Queiroz’s stint with the Egyptian national team was a failure. We don’t plan on negotiating with him.”
