Di Maria: The Venezuela match was probably my last match in Argentina

Angel Di Maria will most likely not play for Argentina in front of a home crowd again, however, he did the last one in grand style.

Angel Di Maria

thanked the Argentina supporters after what he believes to be his final international appearance on home turf, saying "thank you, thank you, and a thousand times thank you."

Di Maria netted one goal and assisted one another in La Bombonera's 3-0 World Cup qualifying triumph over Venezuela on Friday, marking La Albiceleste's 30th successive victory.

Lionel Messi, a

Paris Saint-Germain

teammate, was the recipient of Di Maria's assist and, with Argentina already assured of a spot in Qatar, hinted after the game that he would rethink his international future after the World Cup.

Di Maria was slightly more categorical in his post-game comments, as the 34-year-old reminisced on "a wonderful night".

"I'm just going to say thank you for the enormous love I have received," he wrote on his Instagram page.

"I always dreamed of everything I lived on this beautiful night. It was probably my last match with this shirt in Argentina, and being able to say that it was a wonderful night is an understatement.

"Thank you, thank you and a thousand times thank you.

"Now to congratulate the whole team for the great match that was played, a perfect match by all. We continue growing and dreaming together. Let's go Argentina!!!"

With his

Argentina

debut against Paraguay in 2008, Di Maria has gained 121 caps and tallied 24 goals.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star is set to compete in his fourth World Cup, despite scoring only twice and failing to contribute an assist in 13 appearances in the last three.

Di Maria will look to emulate his Copa America exploits in his last big event, despite scoring in the final against Brazil in July to clinch Argentina's first title with Messi in the squad.
