Real Madrid confirmed: Hazard will undergo surgery

The Belgian has not played for Los Blancos since his five-minute substitute appearance against

on February 19 . He also sat on the bench in the recent El Clasico and witnessed his team's heavy defeat against Barcelona.

Now Real Madrid have confirmed that the 31-year-old midfielder will be out of action for some time and will undergo surgery.

Club's statement reads:

"In the coming days, our player Eden Hazard will undergo surgery to remove the osteosynthesis plate in his right fibula."

Hazard has only played for Ancelotti in eight of his 21 games this season. The former Chelsea star, who joined Real Madrid in 2019, did not perform well and has only played 65 games for the team.
