Militao will serve his suspension against Elche

The Brazilian star will miss the Copa del Rey.

Real Madrid

defender

Eder Militao

will serve his suspension for being sent off in the Super Cup final.

Real Madrid won the competition for the twelfth time with a 2-0 victory over

Athletic Bilbao

in the Super Cup final in Jeddah. Los Blancos won the championship with goals from Luka Modric and Karim Benzema, but the events at the end of the game were to the detriment of the team.

In the final minutes of the game, Militao committed a foul on the Bilbao player and was shown a red card by the referee. It has now been announced that he will miss Real Madrid's next match because of this red card. Thus, the Brazilian defender will be absent from the match against Elche in the Copa del Rey on Thursday. He will return to action in the next match against Real Madrid, which will be against Elche again and this time in La Liga.

The Brazilian defender has played a key role in Carlo Ancelotti's squad this season, alongside David Alaba, and is expected to be replaced by Nacho Fernandez.
