Aston Villa set to sign former Barcelona defender

Villa were able to beat Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham in the negotiations of the last few days and hire the French defender. Denia is on his way to Birmingham today to undergo medical tests. The French defender has three and a half years left on his contract and has told the club he wants to leave Goodison Park in January.

Steven Gerrard, who hired his former team-mate Felipe Coutinho after attending Aston Villa, was successful in the second step and was able to attract the desired defender. It will be the last 18 months of his contract.

Everton initially demanded 30 million euros from Aston Villa for the transfer. However, Villa were able to reduce the amount through negotiations and attract the former Barcelona defender.
