Nigeria favorite to win AFCON - Watford goalie
Nigeria will enter the competition in good spirits and their first match will be one of their toughest.

Egypton January 11, and a victory in this match will put them in a good position to advance from the group, as their next matches are against Guinea-Bissau and Sudan, which are considered easier rivals. Nigeria is one of the most decorated teams in the competition and has won the gold medal three times in 1980, 1994 and 2013. Now Okoye claims that they are the main contenders for the championship.
He said:
"The target is the gold medal. If we go there not thinking about gold, maybe silver or bronze is even more difficult so we need to put in our mind we want to win this AFCON."
Nigeria will be without three key players in the competition, Leon Balogun, Victor Osimhen and Odion Ighalo. Okoyeh believes that the absence of these three players will have a significant impact on the team's performance.
He added:
"Of course they are very important players for us, for the country but we could see that the coach made other good decisions, and players who can also do very good things like these top players."
