The cancellation of Tottenham's recent match in Europe may lead to the team's exclusion from the competition.

's refusal to play against

Rennes

, it is now possible that the Spurs will be excluded from the Europa Conference League.

Tottenham Hotspur and Rennes were due to play in the final week of the Europa Conference League group stage in London on Thursday night, but the game was postponed due to several Tottenham Hotspur members being infected with the coronavirus, and now it is reported that the European Football Union (UEFA) has no plans to hold this game. The case file was referred to the disciplinary committee to decide on the outcome.

A UEFA statement reads:

"Unfortunately, despite all efforts, a solution that could work for both clubs could not be found.

"As a consequence, the match can no longer be played and the matter will, therefore, be referred to the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body for a decision to be taken in accordance with Annex J of the above-mentioned competition regulations."

Tottenham are currently third in Group G of the Europa League Group G with 7 points, and if the result of this game is to their detriment, they will not be able to advance to the round of 16 of this competition. Rennes, meanwhile, have already qualified for the knockout stages with 11 points.
