Al Ahly showed their personality against Zamalek - Maaloul

The Al Ahly left-back believes that the squad have shown their personality in their historic victory over Zamalek in the Cairo Derby.

Carteron and

Zamalek

suffered a bad day as they were defeated 5-3 at the hands of

Al Ahly

on Friday night.

25 games after their 2-1 loss to Al Ahly in April, Zamalek endured their first domestic defeat and their third with

Patrice Carteron

since he started his reign in March.

The Reds had a 5-1 lead until the 80th minute when Ahmed Sayed Zizo found the back of the net for his side to lessen the gap, before Bencharki reduced it to 5-3 in the final minutes of the game.

Al Ahly were gifted two penalties in the clash and

Ali Maaloul

netted them and sealed his first brace in a Cairo Derby.

In a post-match interview, Maaloul insisted that his side imposed themselves on the opposition men and will keep doing so for the rest of the season.

We are determined to bring the league back to its normal place this season, we will now have a short rest after the match and then focus on the next matches,”

Maaloul told

Al Ahly TV

.

“We showed Al Ahly’s personality in the Zamalek match, we faced a big team in a major match such as the Cairo Derby, but we showed our character and the next period will be even better.

“My wife called me before the match and predicted that I would score against Zamalek, which actually happened, so I thank her,”

he concluded.
