Koke: We need to beat Liverpool to get to the next round
The Rojiblancos captain urges his teammates to fight for victory in their upcoming game against the Reds.
Atletico Madrid are battling AC Milan, Porto, and Liverpool in Group B of the Champions League. Having beaten Milan in their previous game of the group stage, the Rojiblancos will face Liverpool on Tuesday.
In a pre-match press conference, Koke urged his teammates to fight for victory at Wanda Metropolitano.
“Every game is important,”
the Rojiblancos captain said.
"To play a game against a team of Liverpool’s stature motivates you more.
“To play with our people, I think the last time we played with a full stadium was against Liverpool.
“We need our fans to get us plugged in.
“We need to take three points to get to the next phase. Liverpool are the team to beat.”
Atletico are currently two points behind Liverpool on the group’s table. The Rojiblancos hope to leapfrog the Reds by a home victory on Tuesday, while Milan are trying to stay in the competition by securing the three points against Porto.
After their match against Liverpool, Atletico will face Real Sociedad in their next La Liga match on Sunday.
