Chiellini ashamed of the abuse Napoli trio endured against Fiorentina

The Azzurri captain believes after the racial abuse of three Napoli players during their victory over Fiorentina, strong action should be taken.

Giorgio Chiellini

revealed that he was “ashamed” by the

Napoli

players being racially abused in the clash against

Fiorentina

on Sunday.

Kalidou Koulibaly

,

Andre-Frank Zambo

Anguissa

and

Victor Osimhen

were abused during Napoli’s 2-1 win at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Koulibaly believes the abusers should be banned for life and Chiellini requested strong action to be taken.

The Juventus centre-back said:

"It is unacceptable. We need laws and rules that are applied, this is the most important thing.

"I was ashamed, as an Italian and a Tuscan, also because Italy is not a racist country for me.

"Something more must be done, otherwise from outside we give a bad image of ourselves "

When Defender Koulibaly was being interviewed on the field post-match, he was targeted by spectators.

As per reports from

II Napolista

, Joe Barone, the Fiorentina director general, apologized to the players in the Napoli changing room personally.

Osimhen hit out at the perpetrators in a tweet, writing:

"Speak to your kids, your parents, make them understand how disgusting it is to hate an individual because of the colour of their skin. NO TO RACISM."

Koulibaly followed suit on Twitter, where he was named a "monkey".

He added:

"They called me that. These people have nothing to do with sport. They must be identified and kept out of the stadiums. Forever."

Serie A has been dealing with racist behaviour from fans a lot this season, with Milan filing an official complaint after Tiemoue Bakayoko and Franck Kessie were subjected to abuse by Lazio supporters.
