Park asks United fans to stop singing the ‘discomforting’ chant
The fans continue singing the terrace song notwithstanding the midfielder not featuring for the club since 2012, but he now wants the supporters to stop.

Manchester Unitedsupporters to retire his chant as it contains a racial insult to his people.
The ex-United midfielder knows that the fans do not mean to offend anyone with the chant, which refers to Koreans eating dog meat, but he is looking to let the fans know the reason behind the words being hurtful to him and his people.
The 40-year-old talked about the issue when the fans began singing the song at Molineux in August when Wolverhampton Wanderers introduced their new signing Hwang Hee-chan.
“
I’m really sorry for him to hear that. I know that United fans don’t mean any offence to him for that song but still I have to educate the fans to stop that word [dog meat], which is usually these days a racial insult to the Korean people,”
Park told the UTD Podcast.
“That particular word is very discomforting for Korean people, and I really feel very sorry for the younger players who heard that kind of song.
"In Korea, things have changed a lot. It is true that historically we have eaten dog meat but these days, particularly the younger generation, they really hate it. The culture has changed.
“I really request the fans to stop singing that word. It causes discomfort to Korean people when they hear that song. It’s time to stop.”
The Red Devils have shown full support to Park’s request and want the fans to respect his desires.
Park played for United for seven years from 2005 to 2012 and contributed to four Premier League title wins, the Champions League and three League Cups. He departed the club and had spells at QPR and PSV Eindhoven before hanging up his boots in 2014.
