Dumfries happy to join Serie A champions Inter

The Nerazzurri announced that Denzel Dumfries has joined the club from PSV on Saturday and he will be Achraf Hakimi’s replacement.

Denzel Dumfries

is keen on showing off his potential at

Inter

after the right-back made a move to the Serie A side.

The Serie A champions pronounced that the 25-year-old penned a four-year contract with them after revealing

Edin Dzeko

’s switch to

Roma

.

Dumfries pulled off great performances at Euro 2020 with Netherlands, meeting the back of the net twice and reports suggest that he was bought for a fee of €12.5million plus add ons.

He is going to be

Achraf Hakimi

’s replacement after he joined

Paris Saint-Germain

this summer. Hakimi’s departure eased Inter’s financial difficulties and they also cashed in on

Romelu Lukaku

, who made a move to

Chelsea

on a contract worth £97.5m (€115m).

"

The feeling is amazing,"

Dumfries told Inter TV.

"I'm very happy to join the champions of Italy. It's a big opportunity for me and I'm happy to be here.

"I'm a wide defender and I like to attack a lot. I think I'll fit in at Inter as they play with five at the back, as I have done with the Netherlands.

"I know which Dutch players have played here before. It's an honour to join them on the list.

"I hope we can have a great season, maybe win another league title and do well in the Champions League. I can't wait to get started."

Frank de Boer was impressed by Dumfries’ performance at Euro 2020 notwithstanding their elimination in the Round of 16.

Hakimi met the back of the net seven times and contributed eight assists. His crossing was successful and that is something Dumfries needs to work on.
