Despite having Dzeko and Mayoral, Mourinho wants a new striker at Roma

Roma announced that they will be coached by former Real Madrid and Inter boss Jose Mourinho from the beginning of the 2021-22 season and that the contract will be valid for three years.

Despite being happy with

Edin Dzeko

 and

Borja Mayoral

Sky Sports Italia

has reported that the Special One wants a third centre-forward at Roma.

The Bosnian, who had been dropped from captaincy by the former Giallorossi boss, Fonseca, took the captain’s armband during his side’s Sunday’s friendly victory over Ternana.

In addition to Dzeko, Roma can make Borja Mayoral’s loan deal from Real Madrid permanent for €20m at the end of the season.

However, according to the outlet, the former Manchester United boss wants another striker to join the team by the end of the summer transfer window.

Currently in negotiations to sign Palmeiras’

Matias Viña

as a temporary replacement for Leonardo Spinazzola, it seems that signing a third striker won’t be a priority for Roma.

The Italy defender,

Spinazzola, will be out of action “for a few months”

after sustaining an injury in his Achilles tendon. The Roma defender was one of the impressive performers at Euro 2020 before rupturing his Achilles tendon when Italy vanquished Belgium 2-1 in the quarter-final clash.

Jose Mourinho

revealed that Roma are going to miss the full-back “for a few months”.

"We all feel sorry about the loss of Spinazzola for a few months but that is football and we have to be ready to start next week," he said on Instagram.
