Xavi signs a two-year contract extension with Al-Sadd

Barcelona legend is set to lead the Qatari side for two more years, despite being tipped for a possible takeover at Barca.

There have been many rumors in recent weeks regarding Xavi’s future at the Qatari club,

Al-Sadd

. The

Barcelona

legend was heavily linked with the manager position at Camp Nou and given Al-Sadd’s elimination in the early stages of the AFC Champions League, many considered Xavi’s ride with the Qatari club to be over. However, it has been recently confirmed the Spaniard has reached an agreement for a contract extension with club and he will lead the QNB Stars League champions until 2023.

In an interview with

Al-Sadd's official website

, Xavi said:

"We achieved a lot together, scored goals, won matches and titles, and we are all very proud of this success. Getting this kind of support is the best thing any coach can get.

“I have everything I could want to do well, and I feel proud to continue with Al-Sadd for an additional two seasons.”

There have also been some rumors that there is a clause in Xavi’s contract that allows him to leave the club at any time.

“This is incorrect,"

the 41-year-old added.

"I have a two-season contract with Al-Sadd, and I respect this contract - and I also respect the official negotiation methods between all parties."
