Darren Moore: We did a good job against Huddersfield

The Sheffield Wednesday boss is happy with his team’s ‘commitment and desire’ in their draw against Huddersfield on Wednesday.

The

Owls

were held to a 1-1 draw in their match against

Huddersfield

on Wednesday.

John Windass

scored the opener for Sheffield Wednesday in the 36th minute, but Huddersfield got their equalizer in the 72nd minute when

Callum Paterson

scored from the spot-kick. In a post-match interview,

Darren Moore

spoke about his team's performance and their current form.

“First of all, we wanted to take all three points tonight. I said that to the boys that if they weren’t going to win the game, then they couldn’t lose.

“I saw more commitment and desire from the team today. We got the goal in front and we thought that we could work in behind the defensive line they had.”

Wednesday ended their disappointing seven-match losing run, but they are still in the relegation zone of the Sky Bet Championship. Having collected 29 points from their 36 league matches, The Owls are currently in 23rd place on the league table behind Rotherham.

Moore added:

“First of all, we wanted to take all three points tonight. I said that to the boys that if they weren’t going to win the game, then they couldn’t lose.

“I saw more commitment and desire from the team today. We got the goal in front and we thought that we could work in behind the defensive line they had.

“It was about us doing our jobs today. They forced an equaliser and it’s a little bit disappointing to concede the goal like that. I have no complaints in terms of the players.

“We look at the positives. It stops the run of form and we can build on a point.

“There’s been improvements since we arrived and the big thing for me is the players trying to do the right things. The point did us the world of good tonight.”

Sheffield Wednesday will face

Barnsley

in their next Championship match on Saturday.
