The Spanish FA try to remove Javier Tebas from his position
La Liga president may have to settle for a resignation.
Javier Tebas
has played a major role in the media in recent years, often giving controversial interviews about players such as
Lionel Messiand
Cristiano Ronaldo, and of course against wealthy clubs such as
Manchester Cityand
Paris Saint-Germain.
Now it is reported that the Spanish Football Federation are trying to remove La Liga president Javier Tebas from his position.
The Spanish FA vice president
Elvira Andrés
Monte
and the head of the legal department
Pedro González
, have signed a 22-page document, explaining why Tebas is not suited for the job and should not be in charge anymore.
This request is due to recent allegations of Tebas's personal involvement in the
Fuenlabradaaffairs. They claimed that Tebas has interfered in Fuenlabrada and
Granada’s affairs for personal reasons and that his removal is necessary. Tebas's son is also a on the board of directors at the Segunda club.
Last summer,
Deportivo La Corunaasked the High Council for Sports to suspend Javier Tebas and take action on the irregularities and infractions of the La Liga president.
The club claimed that Tebas played an important role in La Coruna’s relegation and that when the team's clash against Fuenlabrada was cancelled, all the other final round of Segunda fixtures should have been postponed.
