Hodgson: I am very pleased for Alli because he is a player I admire

Crystal Palace boss is delighted to see Dele Alli back in the Spurs’ squad.

Dele Alli

played an important role in

Tottenham

squad until one or two seasons ago. However, after

Jose Mourinho

took over, the situation changed drastically for the English star and he has become a bench player ever since.

There were lots of rumors in the winter transfer window regarding Alli’s future and it was even said that

Paris Saint-Germain

were interested in signing the England international but eventually, the talented midfielder stayed at Tottenham.

The 24 year-old finally managed to find his way back into the Spurs’ starting line-up in Wednesday Europa League clash against Wolfsberger. He scored the opener for Tottenham with a superb bicycle kick.

Crystal Palace

boss

Roy Hodgson,

whose team is set to face the Spurs today in a Premier League clash, is delighted to see Alli back in Tottenham squad.

“I am very pleased for him because he is a player I like and admire,”

Hodgson said.

“He is an excellent player and it’s always sad when a player with so much potential hits hard times and maybe is not able to get his place in the team for whatever reason that is.

“It’s very good on a personal basis for my relationship if you like with Dele Alli, who I enjoyed working with and who I thought was a very good player, to see him playing again.

“But I wouldn’t have minded if he waited another couple of weeks!”
