Deans: “Brisbane’s game was the one we were the most hard done by”

When Newcastle were defeated by Brisbane in the A-League clash earlier, it seemed like an opportunity missed for the Jets, and Craig Deans is trying to make up for it on Sunday.

Newcastle

are set to face Brisbane on Valentine’s day looking for redemption after their heartbreaking loss against the Roar in January.

The Jets pulled off a great performance in their last game with the Roar on January 20; however, they were vanquished with a 2-1 result courtesy of Dylan Wenzel-Hall’s winner in the second half.

Since that defeat,

Craig Deans

’ squad has gone on a run of three consecutive games unbeaten, with victories over

Wellington

and

Melbourne City

and a drawn match with

Western Sydney

.

Deans has been promoted to the Jets’ head coach on Wednesday, following his significant work as an interim.

As the Jets are getting prepared to lock horns with the Roars on Sunday, their last defeat is still unacceptable to Deans.

"

That was probably the one game that we were probably the most hard done by in terms of the way we played and a little bit of luck not going our way,

" Deans said.

"

The first goal was obviously a huge deflection which on another day doesn't end up where it ended up, and I think we had 22 shots to four in the game and didn't capitalise on the amount of opportunities that we created.

"Since then we've been on a good run so we go into the game with some confidence and some self-belief but it's going to be a very hard game."

According to the Jets’ head coach,

Ramy Najjarine

may appear in the clash against the Roar.

Matt Millar

, who is back from his self-isolation, may also feature on Sunday.

The Roar are going to have their third home match this week after vanquishing

Melbourne Victory

5-2 before being defeated by Macarthur 2-0 on Tuesday.

Warren Moon

, the Roar coach, used the same starting XI in both clashes and revealed that he might apply some changes.
