Laporte: I'm happy at Manchester City, we'll see what happens

Man City defender talks about his future at the club.

Aymeric Laporte

joined

Manchester City

from

Athletic Bilbao

at the last hours of the January transfer window in 2018 on a £57 million deal.

He has been proven as one of the finest defenders in the Premier League. However, a series of injuries and an untimely infection with coronavirus kept the French defender out of action for a while so that other players could take an instant like to

John Stones

and

Ruben Dias

get the chance to prove their worth to the boss and replace Laporte in

Pep Guardiola

’s plan.

Laporte returned to the starting line-up in last night’s victory over Burnley, however, there have been rumors of the player’s desire to leave the club in search of more playing time.

In an interview with

BT Sport

, the French said:

“At the moment I'm here, I'll play, we'll see what happens.

“I'm happy at Manchester City, I always thought I'd spend many years here. I hope that will happen.

“I will see what happens between now and the end of the season but for now I'm happy.”

Man City had a slow and inconsistent start to the season, but they performed exceptionally well in recent weeks and now, they are leading in the Premier League table with 47 points.

“I don't know what we changed, the one thing we have done is winning every game. We're happy and we will try to keep on this way.”

Laporte said.

“It's important when you score. If you don't score you don't win. We have to keep this rhythm, keep not conceding many goals and try to score more than we concede.”
