Nicola: ‘there are things to improve’
Torino manager Davide Nicola was not happy at all with his side’s disappointing 1-1 draw against Fiorentina after the Viola were reduced to nine men.
had to lose two of its players because they received a red card.
Gaetano Castrovilli
and
Nikola Milenkovic
were sent off in the second half and the Viola forced to play more than 20 minutes with nine men.
The excess number of players was put into good use by
Torino. They grabbed a goal back through
Andrea Belotti
in the 88th minute. But
Nicola
claimed Torino struggled to find their rhythm.
“The game was broken up for a long time and we didn’t play anymore,”
he said
. “We didn’t win. We always try to win but we have to be lucid and aware, I have seen a performance from lads who have tried.
“We can’t be satisfied, there are things to improve and I have clearly said that it’s a long way. When you struggle to keep your head, it doesn’t go hand in hand with the body and you make mistakes.”
But the coach said he didn’t think Fiorentina gave them too much difficulty at the Grande Torino.
“I look at the reaction and the seven chances created against three by Fiorentina,”
he said.
“They didn’t put us in much difficulty, they have a precious path behind them, and they have been together for longer.
“We are aware that there’s the need to improve our timing and in the management of emotions. Potentially, we can do much more, but I have seen the attitude."
