Former Iraq international joined A-League's Newcastle Jets

Newcastle Jets are delighted to declare the marking of seasoned midfielder Ali Abbas for the 2020/21 season

The former Iraq international go back to The Jets after stretches with Sydney, Pohang, and Wellington.

Abbas is well experienced in the

A-League

with 138 appearances over an 11-year time span.

The 34-year-old was eager to be proceeding with his football venture at the club where his A-League profession began.

"I'm very happy and excited to be back in Newy," Abbas said.

"It's been a long road for me and I've been waiting for my opportunity and I'm just extremely happy to be here with the boys. I'd really like to thank Deansy, the coaches and the club for this opportunity and taking a chance on me, I really, really appreciate it."

"I just can't wait for tomorrow to be able to represent the Newcastle Jets."

Head coach

Craig Deans

trusts Abbas is an ideal player for the club and his experience and flexibility is a major reward.

"We are happy to have Ali back. He's obviously very versatile, he can play in two or three different positions. He's a good person, a hard worker and he fits in with the group very well," Deans said.

"Ali has been here before, he knows the club, the town and that's important as well."

"I look forward to seeing him get on the pitch tomorrow in Jets colours."
