Arteta needs time to change Arsenal - Seaman

Legendary goalkeeper believes Arteta can change Arsenal's fortune.

David Seaman believes that choosing Arteta was always a big risk, but if the Spanis coach has enough time, he can change the situation.

After the dismissal of Unai Emery, Gunners took a significant risk by choosing the young Spanish coach. Their former captain gained first-team coaching experience for the team for the first time with Arsenal. Before leading North Londoner, he was Pep Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City. He won the FA Cup and Community Shield when he started at Arsenal, but his side's performance has struggled this season.

However, the legendary former Arsenal goalkeeper believes that Arteta can change the situation and be given a chance.

He told The Target Men Podcast:

"Overall, I’ve been impressed with Mikel Arteta. When he first signed for Arsenal, I thought it was a big risk because it’s his first job and it’s a big job. After Emery and the latter years of Arsene, we weren’t getting any better, so for Mikel to take over was a tough ask.

“At the time I thought Patrick Vieira might have been a better choice because he’d already had experience, but after I saw Mikel’s first press interview, I was really impressed.

“Since then, I like how he’s affecting the team, but he needs to be given time from the board to make it his own team.

“The game against Wolves showed that Arsenal are still lacking in confidence and a clear idea of what is expected of them.”
