Lucas Digne on the sidelines due to ankle injury

Lucas Digne has endured a knock to his ankle in practice which could sideline him for up to two months. the 27-year-old Frenchman sustained the injury this week and disappointing scans showed that he needs to undergo surgery in the future days.

It is unfortunate for the left-back player, who began the season in blistering form, providing four assists in eight Premier League games.

A two-month discharge would put

Digne

out of a special hectic winter schedule, which involves

Everton

’s matches against Chelsea, Leicester City, Arsenal, both Manchester clubs, and Wolverhampton Wanderers, and also a possible EFL Cup semi-final at the beginning of January.

Niels Nkounkou may replace

Digne

as

Everton

’s other natural left-back, but it's his first Premier League debut since his summer move to Goodison Park.

Fabian Delph, a great central midfielder, can also defend the left-back, having performed there for most of Manchester City’s 100-point season under Pep Guardiola in 2017-18.
