Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli is close to joining Lazio on a free transfer.
According to the Italian press,
Laziomet with
Romagnoli’sagent on Friday and their meeting has been successful.
Lazio has been in talks with Romagnoli for a number of months now and they’re keen to pick him up on a free transfer in the summer, believing him to be the perfect reinforcement for Maurizio Sarri’s side.
It is expected that Lazio will lose Luiz Felipe and possibly Francesco Acerbi at the end of the season, so they are determined to sign Milan's captain after giving Maurizio Sarri guarantees on the strengthening of the squad.
The 27 year old Italian centre back is no longer the first choice for Stefano Pioli at Milan but they have offered him an extension worth €2.5m net per season plus bonuses compared to the current €5.5m net he earns.
Alessio Romagnoli has rejected this offer and
Milanso far has refused to increase their offer. Lazio has reportedly offered him a five-year contract worth €3m per season plus up to €0.5m bonuses.
Romagnoli joined Milan from Roma in 2015 for €25.5 million. His contract expires at the end of the season.
