Ralf Rangnick targeting Amadou Haidara as first Man United signing

The RB Leipzig defender might join the Red Devils as soon as this winter.

Manchester United have reportedly reached

an agreement

to appoint Ralf Rangnick as interim coach until the end of the season. The German tactician is set to move to a consultancy role next summer when Man United will sign a permanent manager.

Rangnick is already considering transfers for the upcoming winter transfer window, with multiple players being linked with moves to Old Trafford.

According to

Daily Mirror

, RB Leipzig’s

Amadou Haidara

is Rangnick’s first transfer target for the January window. The German manager signed Haidara from RB Salzburg when working as Leipzig’s sporting director in 2019.

Since then, Haidara has featured in 99 games for the Bundesliga side, scoring ten goals and providing six assists. The Malian midfielder has established himself as a regular starter under Jesse Marsch this season, maintaining his great form despite his side’s recent struggles.

In an interview with German outlet

Bild

in 2019, Haidara was asked about a potential move to Old Trafford.

“I like Mancheester United very much and watch as many games as possible. I dream of playing there.”

Haidara told

Bild

 in 2019.

Newcastle are also interested in a move for Haidara. However, Rangnick’s presence on Man United’s bench will give them a great advantage in the race to sign the 23-year-old.
