Pallotta: I didn’t want to sell Salah

Former Roma owner admits it was hard for him to sell the Egyptian star to Liverpool in 2017.

Having left

Roma

with a £34 million deal,

Mohamed Salah

joined

Liverpool

in 2017. The Egypt international has established a reputation as one of the best forwards in European football in recent seasons. He has scored 120 goals in his 193 appearances for the Reds while collecting two Golden Boots in the Premier League. In an interview with

The Athletic

,

Jim Pallotta

has spoken about the 28-year-old and his transfer to Merseyside.

“Salah was a wonderful kid that I hated to lose.

“I loved him. I didn’t want to sell him. But I had no choice.

“Salah was going to go no matter what because he had something to prove. That was the difference.”

Salah has been linked with a move away from Anfield recently.

Real Madrid

and

Barcelona

are reportedly interested in signing the player, but the Egyptian’s potential salary demands and his transfer fee might block such a move as the clubs are dealing with the financial effects of the pandemic.
