Breaking News: Brazil's all-time great Pele dies aged 82

Earlier, it was reported that Pele’s condition has worsened and it leads to his family keeping the 82-year-old Brazilian legend in the hospital for Christmas receiving greater care. Now, his daughter confirms the death of the Brazilian great on Thursday.

After years of battling cancer, the three-time World Cup winner has died aged 82 after being moved to palliative care early in December. His daughter confirmed the death of the iconic footballer on Thursday.

Pele

 had colon cancer since 2021 and the condition led to several other problems like renal and cardiac dysfunctions for the three-time World Cup winner. He had a tumor rumored in September of 2021 but it didn't drastically change his health conditions.

Since Pele relocated to the care facility, many in the footballing world including Neymar, Mbappe, and many others shared their messages of support for the three-time World Cup winner.

Pele first helped

Brazil

 

win the 1958 World Cup when he was just 17 years and 249 days old, making him the youngest player ever to win it. He helped the Selcao win the World Cup two more times in 1962 and 1970.

 The hospital subsequently released a medical report that read:

"The Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein confirms with regret the death of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé, today, December 29, 2022, at 3:27 p.m., due to multiple organ failure, a result of the progression of colon cancer associated with his previous clinical condition.

"The Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein sympathises with the family and all who suffer from the loss of our dear King of Football."
